Program:
The Mk 38 Mod 2 MGS main weapon is the proven M242 NATO standard auto cannon and fires all USN approved 25 mm ammunition up to 180 rpm, with the Mk 38 Mod 2 providing 200 ready rounds. The Mk 38 Mod 2 incorporates the service-proven Toplite electro optical FCS to optimize engagement of enemy targets in all weather conditions day or night. Toplite FCS provides four axis gimbal stabilization and superior optics including FLIR with three fields of view, a low contrast, low light level color TV camera and an eye-safe laser rangefinder. It also provides a crew safe condition with a remote operation console located in the CIC or in other protected structures.
